Leisure and excursion tips for the Franconian Forest

Leisure and activities

More than half of its area of over 100,000 hectares is forested. Numerous rivers and streams run through the area and were once transportation routes for the timber industry. The climate is harsh and distinctive in places and offers sufficient snow for winter sports.
